William Hootkins in the 1980s (1 of 5)
William Hootkins appeared in an episode of Tales of the Unexpected, originating in the United Kingdom. This show featured short dramas with a twist ending most written by Raold Dahl. Hootkins had his beard at this time but would have to shave it off for a later role.

The above photos are from Tales of the Unexpected, episode entitled Taste in 1980 about a wine expert.

He also had a small role in Hussy with Helen Mirren. And yes there was a sex scene but so tastefully done that photos were pointless.

In December, 1980 Flash Gordon was released. Hootkins played Munson, Dr. Zarkov's loyal assistant, but he did have his limits.

In March of 1981, Hootkins played Winston Churchill in the UK mini-series The Life and Times of David Lloyd George, about the controversial liberal Prime Minister. This is the role that required Hoot to shave off his facial hair.

He also appeared as a Tour Guide in the movie Sphinx in 1981.

He also appeared in another Tales of the Unexpected in the episode entitled The Boy Who Talked with Animals.

In the summer of 1981 is when Raiders of the Lost Ark was released. Hootkins played in 2 scenes, probably the least memorable, although I do recall that they had "Top Men" working on what to do with the Arc.

In January of 1982, Hootkins guest starred as Teddy Roosevelt in American TV series, Bret Maverick. I hear Teddy traveled with his own portable bathtub.

In December of 1982, Hootkins played a cab driver in Trail of the Pink Panther with David Niven and Herbert Lom. He probably never met them, but he did share his scene with Joanna Lumley.

In the first half of 1983, Hootkins appeared on 3 American TV shows. One was Cagney & Lacey in February, where he played a not very cooperative and frustrating theater manager.

Another was Taxi. He played a sneaky Liquor Authority Agent who attempted to fail Jim, the bar owner and make him lose his license.
The next will have to wait til the next Hootkins post, probably tomorrow.

In the 'Western' cultures of Remnant (such as Atlas, Vale and parts of Menagerie), the traditional zodiac is grouped by months and elements. Unknown to the world, the 'elements' behind each zodiac is actually inspired by the seasonal maidens, but is covered up by being inspired by the four seasons of the world.
Nuckelavee hosts the winter months (January, February, and December). Those born under this zodiac are water / ice signs.
Cenitaur and the start of Sabyr host the spring months (March, April and May). Those born under this zodiac are earth signs.
The tail-end of Sabyr and Wyvern host the summer months (June, July and August). Those born under this zodiac are fire signs.
Sea Feilong and the start of Monstra host the autumn months (September, October and November). Those born under this zodiac are air and electricity signs.

Nuckelavee : January - February

Měi Qí (美琪), an astrologist from Xashiuque, founded the Xashiuquen Zodiac. Each astrological sign is represented by a grimm, similar to the Western Zodiac. However, unlike the Western Zodiac, the Xashiuquen Zodiac is based on years rather than months, and is divided into twelve placements. The 'Xashiuquen New Year' begins on March 23, the spring equinox for Mistral, and is represented by a grimm for that year. Each zodiac sign carries an element, also similar to the western zodiac, but follows a different methodology in what's assigned to them.

Old times are the start of Egypt's immense and rich history. As quite possibly one of the most seasoned civilizations ever, it is home to probably the most notable traveler objections on The planet, including the Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza.
For quite a while, Egypt was governed by different lines in progression. The Old Realm, which is generally notable for making the Giza Pyramids, is a tradition. Afterward, the Middle Easterners, the Ottomans, and the Romans generally involved Egypt.

I think the most pertinent, fundamental question to ask at this point is: How canon do we want to make the 1981 musical Cats by Andrew Lloyd Webber to Better Bones? Since you've done so fantastically well at fleshing out alternate but no-less-viable systems of belief, that door has been left wiiiide open. Stripped of the zany dance numbers and stage actors in copious makeup, you can't deny that the underlying Jellicle cat religion / Heavyside Layer wouldn't be out of place. Don't lie to us. Don't you dare.
We don't know when the musical takes place, but as for where, the Jellicle Cats and their religion are centralized in a junkyard somewhere in London. Depending on how far their area of influence extends, there could be a few cats in a sect or two of BloodClan who practice the faith of a land to the south, or otherwise believe in the existence of the Heavyside Layer. Or say, the junkyard is done away with in the late 90's and a diaspora of Jellicle Cats spreads across the land. Their descendants hope one day to make the pilgrimage for one last ball, and are invariably seen as Rather Offputting by everyone. (In-story it'd all amount to rare sequiturs from a nameless extra or two which increase in probability the further one heads south.)
Hey bonefall hey, do you think Skyclan has a word for this? It'd be a corruption of the English "dear little [cats], of which "Jellicle" is a romanization. How would you say Jellicle with Clanmew pronunciation?
You can't run from this forever.
Stripped of the zany musical numbers and stage actors in copious makeup??? What are you, Tom Hooper?!
If you're going to put the Jellicles in the BB Universe, you fucking BETTER be taking inspiration from the cancelled 1997 Steven Spielberg animated musical adaptation which places the cats in postwar London sometime circa 1945 and implied that the cats had heavily cultural emphasis on song, dance, and performance
Which btw would place Grizabella's Jellicle Ball pretty firmly in the Code Era of my adaptation (built around the canonical tidbit that Turtle Tail was hit by a Ford Model T meaning the Dawn Era was pre-war).
It would be before the main Warrior cast is born (Except Holly due to infamous Time Travel Shenanigans)-- but Jellicles, after all, were there when the Sphinx was built, so it's safe to assume they'd still be around in the future as a cultural group.
Really the biggest barrier is that they live in bloodbourne London. Too far southeast to communicate with Clan cats or even BloodClan, who are northwest. Park Cats are from further south, but no further south than Gloucestershire at most.
So, serious answer, they can absolutely be canon in this universe, or at the very least they can be slotted in easily. I built a brand new religion system exactly to accommodate the existence of multiple cultural groups and honor the afterlives of each.
In fact, Jellicles fit perfectly into it.
They have a heaven (Heavyside Layer) but no hell, exactly the way that a "vanilla" type religion can form on its own. Really there's just one question-- what's their leader power?
Old Deuteronomy...
Is said to have lived many lives in succession (possible continual reincarnation?)
May choose the next cat to ascend to the Heavyside Layer (immediate patronification?)
But at the same time, there are some cats who seem to display magical powers, akin to the Sister's power distribution system. Mr. Mistoffelees is one, able to perform simple magical tricks. As far as I remember, there are two.
Conjuration (Ability to change the location of an object in space)
Levitation
These both seem like versions of the same power, really. It makes sense, too, that culturally they would value agility to the point of veneration. It ties into dancing, avoiding cars and dogs, stealing things.
In any case though-- you begin to lose these sorts of abilities the further you go from a group, without some kind of token. The Sisters are the example I've written so far; Tree needs some kind of item in order to see ghosts when he's not near the rest of the Sisters. The Jellicles are also a pretty proud group, I can't see them making these "tokens" for any old wanderer.
So maybe there's just a few of them, and Macavity has one stolen?
hmmmm... Maybe those reincarnations have to do with who's supposed to Hold The Token, and Old Doot has basically been one of them for eons. Maybe Mistoffelees was the most recent reincarnation from the Jellicle Ball?
Anyway TL;DR yeah Jellicle cats can exist in Better Bones, they're just too far away to interact with Clan cats.
Clanmew pronunciation of Jellicle = "Shewakl"

Temple of Apshai had two expansions. Upper Reaches of Apshai (1981) is literally the aboveground region that sits atop the subterranean dungeons of the first game — you explore the innkeeper’s backyard, a monastery, a cottage and a wine cellar. Thrilling stuff!. The second expansion, Curse of Ra (1982), takes on an ancient Egyptian theme — you explore the Well of Forever, a pyramid, the Sphinx and the Temple of Ra. Both expansions play essentially the same, and have booklets detailing the room descriptions.
Couple amusing things about the game. First, it is essentially two programs that overlap. The Innkeeper handles character management and outfitting (you can even try to haggle over the prices, though I never quite figured out how to get a deal). The Dunjonmaster runs the dungeons, like a GM. The second is that there is no way to save the game, so you can write your stats and equipment down, then input them to the Innkeeper when you play again to continue with the same character. I am certain no one ever used this to cheat and give their character all 18s and +5 magic items.

Artemis, all grown up.
The fic I’m working on at the moment, Learning To Fly, is set roughly a year after the HPHM kids leave Hogwarts, starting around the time of Artemis’ 19th birthday and finishing around two years later. It’s strange seeing her out of school, and even stranger through the eyes of someone else, but it’s got me really interested in her as an adult, and how her story is going to progress after the events of my mammoth adaptation of HPHM.
Now, not all of Artemis’ story is set in stone (I’ve learnt the hard way that my girl doesn’t let me choose what she does), but I thought I’d share some vague insights into what the future holds for Artemis after leaving Hogwarts.
Artemis leaves Hogwarts in June 1981, and starts working as a Curse-Breaker for Gringotts.
There are several reasons why she chooses this path. Partly, despite what everything she went through with the Vaults, she genuinely enjoyed Curse-Breaking, at least to begin with. Also, she’s stubborn as anything. She sees giving up on the idea of a career in Curse-Breaking as the Vaults winning, somehow.
Professional Curse-Breaking, however, isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Artemis loves the international travel, the ancient ruins, the adventure, danger, and excitement. She hates the paperwork, the focus on money and profit, and the fact that Gringotts keep a dragon in chains deep in the basement.
In May 1992, Artemis enjoys a brief and relatively successful career as an amateur dragon smuggler. Because of this, she knows the importance of allowing these creatures to live freely, and is less than pleased about the mistreatment of the Gringotts dragon.
Sadly, this means that she will eventually hand in her notice at Gringotts. Or, more likely, storm out in a very flamboyant and explosive way, effectively (possibly even literally, knowing Artemis) burning her bridges with the bank, after only a couple of years of working there.
Having left Gringotts, Artemis secures a temporary position working with the Ministry’s Department of Magical Games and Sports and Department of International Magical Cooperation to help arrange the tasks for the Triwizard Tournament.
Artemis attends the Quidditch World Cup in August 1994, alongside Penny, Tonks, and Chiara (who is working as a Healer on-site), and meets up with several old friends. She is present when the Death Eaters start to terrorise the campsite, and joins in the fight against them.
In January 1995, Artemis moves in with her boyfriend of almost a year, and later receives a marriage proposal from him. She rejects it, not feeling that she is ready to settle down yet, effectively ending the relationship.
The Sphinx in the maze during the final challenge of the Triwizard Cup is one that Artemis encountered during her time as a Curse-Breaker. She has a direct role in bringing the Sphinx to Hogwarts, and is present at the castle for the aftermath of the final challenge.
Cedric’s death causes a lot of bad memories to resurface for Artemis. In a crisis, she leaves the country and spends a few months sleeping on the sofa of her close friend Charlie in Romania, working on a voluntary basis at the dragon sanctuary.
Artemis joins the Order of the Phoenix. However, Dumbledore requires absolute loyalty and obedience to him. Artemis doesn’t always trust his judgement. In turn, he doesn’t trust her with anything too important.
Kingsley Shacklebolt persuades Artemis that she should train as an Auror in 1996, the academic requirements having been dropped due to the increased demand for Aurors. Artemis has no desire to be an Auror, however when Kingsley explains his reasons for wanting her to go through the training (namely, lots of duelling practice that will stand her in good stead for the battles to come), she accepts the offer, and trains with him as her mentor.
In August 1997, Artemis attends the wedding of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour. She is only mildly insulted by Bill’s choice of best man. She will forever stand by the fact that she would have done a better job than Charlie.
After Voldemort takes over the ministry and Snape takes the position of Hogwarts Headmaster, most of the Order continue to follow the plans set aside by Dumbledore before his death. Artemis doesn’t. Why would anyone follow a dead man’s orders? She does what she does best: does things her own way.
Using her skills as an unregistered Animagus, Artemis goes rogue and helps in the war effort as a jailbreaker. She is eventually discovered, captured, and tortured, but manages to escape with the help of an old friend.
Artemis fights at the Battle of Hogwarts. She survives. Not everyone does. She struggles emotionally in the aftermath, as do the rest of the survivors.
At some point, Artemis will connect with the extended members of her biological family. Her relationship with her mother will never be a good one, and will affect her own feelings towards the idea of family and motherhood. Maybe it’s because I’m still writing her as a reckless teenager, but right now, I can’t see Artemis becoming a mother herself. At least, not a particularly good or safe one. She is, however, named godmother to Bill’s three children, a decision that he sporadically regrets.
I know very little about what Artemis will do after the end of the war. However, I do know that she will attend the wedding of Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter as Charlie’s date, and that she will spend an hour or so all alone under a rowan tree every year at sundown on New Year’s Eve for as long as she lives.
Like I said, Artemis’ story evolves as she does. I have outlines, but the details are hazy. She’ll decide for herself as she goes along. She always does.
